Smith Foxe hails from the rain-drenched lands of the Pacific Northwest. Music has been a lifelong passion ever since writing his first song at the age of nine.
Smith has become a prolific, multi-genre songwriter, venturing into the hip-hop, acoustic, and rock realms whenever inspiration pulls him in that direction.
Smith has been a performing artist starting in high school, discovering his love for acting in the theatre. A couple years later, traveling around the United States, Smith took opportunities to play acoustic musical and poetry open mics across the nation, before returning to the PNW to begin university studies.
Smith launched The South Beach Riot in 2007 as a working project encapsulating his songs. In 2011, The South Beach Riot released a well-conceived but poorly-executed EP called L. One year later, in late 2012, TSBR released The Riot Is Coming, a four-song rock EP that showcases the talents of bassist and keyboardist Matt Savino and session drummer Ulises Ponce.
Through the years, Smith has continued to play a sparse show schedule with The South Beach Riot, and in 2015, Smith became the lead vocalist for metal band Shades Below Zero, which included guitarist Casey Butler, bassist Ethan Noll, and drummer Jenn Russell. After a couple years and many memorable shows across the greater Portland area, SBZ disbanded.
That same year, Smith began a series of collaborations with EDM/Futurebass producer theearthonfire. In 2019, this musical friendship transitioned into theearthonfire becoming a TSBR band member as a keyboardist, sound manipulator, and DJ. Some of these collaborations include a reimagining of Soundgarden's "Outshined," as well as some original music such as the ABSOLUTE BANGER called "Stars."
Smith reunited with Casey in 2019 on an already-established hip-hop/funk project called An0m1e, where Smith played drums in a lineup which included vocalist Cameron Butler (Caseys brother) and bassist Michael Barghini.
After An0m1e entered a hiatus in late 2020, Smith began work on a series of hip-hop projects. On March 20, 2023, Smith released "Gridlocked," a maxi-single, in advance of his debut hip-hop EP The Joking Kill, which was released June 30, 2023.
Smith released his latest project on December 26, 2023 (Boxing Day!)--a full-length mixtape called The Outbreak.
Stay tuned for future releases and work from Smith Foxe!
